CSSA Zoom Presentation about Adromischus Sat. May 15th

Post by Apicra »

The C&S Society of America organise fortnightly Zoom virtual meetings every other Saturday to keep members in touch. I have been asked to give a talk about Adromischus at their next webinar (early next Saturday evening, UK time). Attendance is free, but you do have to register in advance. Please share this advert with anyone else who might be interested - they hold a licence for 1,000 people, I believe.

Program: Insights into Adromischus

Adromischus (Crassulaceae) are popular leaf succulents from southern Africa and are easily propagated from leaves. Being relatively small, they make good pot plants and a wide selection can be grown in a modest space. Look closely at their diverse range of leaf shapes, textures and colours. Our tour of the genus in both habitat and cultivation will showcase [nearly!] all the species.

Since I helped write the Adromischus Handbook in the 1990s, Adromischus has taught me a lot.  Detailed study has revealed unique features & a credible evolutionary sequence (as yet unpublished). This is an example of how succulents have evolved recently.

Best wishes,
Derek Tribble

Hi Derek,

A great talk yesterday, thank you. It was good to hear about the latest thinking on certain species of the genus. We look forward to hearing this talk in the flesh at branch meetings in future years and also, one day we hope, a new book on Adromischus.

My Adros are growing well this spring, here are some of them (still under the bench!) today:

Indeed a great talk, I learned a lot! And I second the need for the new book, or even a small reprint would be great!

Tony, do you also keep your Adromischus organised in trays by sections? Also, what's the top left in the bottom right tray if I may ask? It has lovely pastel colours!
