Is anyone ordering from cact.cz at the moment?

Post by MatDz »

I wasn't sure where to create this post, it's related to C&S, so here we are!

As the subject line states really, is anyone ordering anything from https://www.cact.cz/ at the moment? I made and paid an order good 5 weeks ago and tried to contact Pavel multiple times since then, but did not receive a single reply from him.

Edit: To clarify, I am simply asking if anyone is receiving emails from him, I can handle the refund rather easily.

Have not tried recently . However 5 weeks with no communication is not unusual for cact.cz .They tend to do stuff at set dates so you just have to be patient, did think i saw that they are only posting to the EU now though

They do set dates for new batches of seeds, but here they agreed to split the order and payment. Also, I am sure 5 weeks is enough to reply to at least one of maybe 5 weekly emails where I politely asked for an update.

I've ordered, paid and received from Pavel in that time frame.... so surprised he's not been in touch. His emails aren't being filtered into junk mail accidentally?

Nope, and initiating a PayPal dispute was enough to get a reply within 24 hours. Now let's try to find either the parcel or another source of those perfect 5 cm "Lithops" pots I desperately need for yesterday!

You think that's bad?

Today, I just received a parcel from the Czech Republic that was posted to me last November - yes, more than 6 months ago. In this case it was clearly not at all the sender's fault - it had got lost somewhere in the postal system. Amazingly, some of the Haworthias in my parcel appear to still be alive. I am trying to revive them...

Yikes, they definitely need the Intensive Care Unit.

I would give them a little amino acid mix to the roots, so they can absorb it directly and make proteins without any effort. You can't use it all the time as it gets a bit sticky but it is brilliant for perking up a plant that has suffered any stress - whether it is cold, heat, light deprivation, being stood on or whatever.

I have also used just the single amino acid glutamine for cuttings sitting in water, they hardly noticed the rest of the plant was missing. If anyone knows a pure amino acid mix without the carbohydrates for a reasonable price, please let me know. Dry powder would be nice as 1 litre is far too much for a year and I have to keep it in the fridge.

I've eyeballed ingredients of the CMS Shot [1] you mentioned to, well, a "human" amino acids supplement [2], and the lists seem to align pretty well! Maybe that's a route worth exploring?

That looks possible. I couldn't find an unflavoured one for humans before. I am usually good at googling but I ended up just snarling "not BCAA, all the amino acids" at the computer and it didn't listen. I could always add glutamine and arginine, they are both available as powders and I already have them.

250g would be equivalent to 2.7 litres of CMS Shoot without all the sticky sugars and molasses minerals that are not really needed when using it with a complete fertiliser. So, I might use quite a lot more than I did of the CMS.

Your link to the datasheet did not work for me but I found it easily:

I decided to buy it, there are a few plants outside that look like they need a pick-me-up after whatever you call this last season.

Turned out I got another 25% off by typing in EXTRA because it is May, so it only cost £14 plus p&p. I assume they are socialists or pagans or both.

I am guessing about 0.5 to 2 grammes per litre. I do love experimenting.

Thanks Mat
