Thelocactus hexaedrophorus

Post by Acid John »

Since I'm in a greenhouse of closed cacti flowers. Here's one I took earlier, in a 2" pot.

(tu)
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Nice to see someone else gives their Thelocactus a red tinge over the winter, I thought it was just me.

Nice one, John. I have three hex buds waiting to open but the lack of decent sunshine and warmth is holding them back.

Ray, I believe anything not able to survive my regime was not a succulent anyway 🤣
Rod, I don't know about warmth, mine have been several degrees below zero many times this winter. Maybe mine see the Sun and know it is time to get started.

Always a nice plant to see flowering, mine are still a little way off.
I aim for heating to +5 deg.C but don't get much direct light on the greenhouse between November and early March which delays a lot of my plants.
Regards Keith.

Quite surprised to see mine in flower today, still mainly overcast and wet.
