Mammillaria theresae making the most of the sunshine!

Post by Diane »

My old Mammillaria theresae in full flow today. I think it was originally a seedling from Ken Burke many years ago, so at least 30 years old, and I counted 16 heads on it. Unusual, because this species is so often solitary. I have raised seeds from it, but so far, none have offset.

It’s a quick pic taken on the iPad, so colours look a bit bright.

Sunshades at the ready
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Beautiful plant Diane (tu)

Mine is just a couple of days behind yours. I’ve no idea how old it is as it was an eBay purchase a couple of years ago. Slightly different shade of flower but produces some very viable seed. Nearly every one of the 30+ seeds I’ve harvested have germinated and are doing really well. I’ve just pollinated it and will hopefully be able to share some seed next year to the BCSS seed pool.
