The gold spined one is Patriciae which Brian Bates named for his wife, quite soft and strokable, what a nice gesture.

The best bit is she had (at least when I met her) hair just like the plant - no kidding! I reckon it should have been patricioides...

The spines are quite soft. Just slightly bristly, definitely not going to hurt you. Flowers are starting to open today.
