Chinese miniature succulent landscape

Post by Pattock »

For those wanting inspiration for the next Show, Liziqi has just uploaded a video to youtube where she made a table, with a centrepiece of a miniature landscape with succulents, ferns and liverwort - surrounded by a canal with moving water to carry floating dishes for a dinner party.

Liziqi is an immensely popular youtuber and student from Yunnan. She lives on a traditional smallholding with her grandmother. Her tranquil, timeless and meditative videos are usually of a traditional craft (the bamboo sofa set is my next recommendation) or cookery, set against the most beautiful landscape of the hills of Yunnan. The plants, flowers and fruits are usually in focus, unlike most travelogues on TV. English captions are generally added after a few days, though they are usually not necessary except for the recipes.

The beauty and peace of the videos are probably partly responsible for the 15.4 million subscribers (she is on other outlets as well, I believe). Though most of us would not have the skill, knowledge and artistry that she has, we would like to believe we could be happy on a small farm.

Though my ambition as I age is to end up near a good hospital and a shopping centre.
