How much longer?

Post by iann »

I've been watching this Eriosyce llanensis bud develop for a few weeks. It is slow, but I never imagined how far it would go and not open.

It'll flower eventually! I hadn't really noticed how long this one takes to open it's buds before, but you're right it takes its time.

It's not Eriosyce/Thelocephala llanensis by the way, but E./T. challensis. Two different species or subspecies depending on your preference.

Glad you made the correction Ian, as my first thought was that it looked like T. challensis.

Thanks for catching the wrong name. I'll fix the label. Not sure where the real T. llanensis has gone, maybe succumbed to the root mealie invasion a few years back. Still just a huge bud, but fingers crossed not long now.

Surely today I thought. I really wanted a display like Diane's, but it wasn't to be. Surely tomorrow!

Blink .... and you'll miss it.
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.
