It is always a thrill when some of the larger, more impressive plants let loose. This year my big old Puya hybrid has decided to put up 3 spikes at once - only ever one at a time previously.
And a first time of flowering for me - Beschorneria albiflora. This is the odd man out in the genus as it grows a decent sized trunk.
Couple of big flowering events in my garden.

Impressive stuff Paul.
Probably down to the May monsoon followed by the June heatwave.

Very impressive that you do so well with your outdoor plants. Pity it is so far to visit!

Re: Couple of big flowering events in my garden.
Thanks, folks. Growing stuff in the great outdoors means space is less of an issue and bigger plants can be let off the leash. That puya takes up about 2.5m x 2.5m, having grown to that size in 20-odd years since I planted it. Apparenty it is Puya alpestris ssp zoellneri (formely berteroniana) x chilensis.
