CactusWorld Live booking is open!

Post by Pattock »

Book at https://www.rhs.org.uk/Gardens/RHS-Gard ... 1&ESRC=CMS

Lie to them and book in as RHS member for £0 and pay a discounted price (not sure what part of £11) when you arrive with your BCSS membership card on the day.

Description on the BCSS website frontpage: https://www.society.bcss.org.uk/index.p ... -live.html

I looked on Facebook because there was insufficient information on the Youtube ad for the event that went up today:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiE0G7HqQnw

From the BCSS Facebook page:

RHS Garden Bridgewater

Public · Anyone on or off Facebook
CactusWorldLIVE! - A Succulent Adventure
A fun family adventure. Join the British Cactus and Succulent Society at this two day extravaganza full of prickly ideas on how to display and care for your favourite cacti and stylish succulents at home.
There will be the chance to buy a host of unusual plants and plenty of time to talk with the experts that grow them.
Browse and chat with a live music soundtrack from Biscuit Head and The Biscuit Badgers.
Plant experts Anne Swithinbank will be there on Saturday and Michael Perry (aka Mr Plant Geek), on Sunday. They will share their top tips and there’ll be lots of fun activities to keep the little ones entertained.
To book tickets now visit https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/bridgewater
Please note: The show is being held within RHS Bridgewater grounds, therefore you will need a ticket to attend. So please ensure that you book yours asap as timeslots are getting sold out quickly. If you are a member of the RHS we recommend you use this membership to attend for free. If you are a BCSS member the RHS have kindly offered a discount entry, you will need to book a RHS member slot and show your BCSS membership card to pay for your tickets when you arrive.

Map showing location.....
https://manchester.bcss.org.uk/home/cactus-world-live/

edited to add more details.

I've also included all the links to the various pages as they are likely to disappear from facebook and this thread might end up on page 2 or 3 eventually.

By my calculation there are just 1624 places on each day, so book early if you want to go!

If you are an RHS Member and a BCSS Member I assume the entrance fee is also ½ price.

These places* also seem to do the gift aid wrong? Surely that is claimed back from the government and shouldn't be something the customer is paying...... :???: :???: :???:

Yes Chris, I’ve noticed this for years. In small print it normally says that the gift aid price includes a ‘voluntary’ donation, I think it’s an unacceptable practice. If booking in advance on line it’s possible to opt out of the ‘donation’.

The gift aid idea is that with the extra voluntary contribution (must be 10% at least), the charity is able to claim gift aid back on the whole amount paid.

Surely charities can claim gift aid back on a standard entry fee, without any extra being added? Apologies if I’ve got this totally wrong :???:
