Thanks guys
Currently filming .... fingers crossed for another good one.
Why are ALL of my Echinopsis trying to flower simultaneously .... I only have one set of kit suitable for this type of work.

Re: Echinopsis flowers
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Re: Echinopsis flowers
The unnamed orange flowering one with a red stigma, I find particularly interesting.

Last evening's video.
Yes again it is lower quality because otherwise this site won't load it.
Yes it has a copyright mark
Yes it is available without the mark

Re: Echinopsis flowers
Great videos, Terry.
Are you doing any longer ones or is it a case of file size and loading difficulties. Would be great to see the flowers open fully.
Thank you very much really enjoyed these

Re: Echinopsis flowers
Thanks Ed
And further to an earlier conversation.
I am starting to make some sense of which hybrids are "do-able".
Some Echinopsis seem to produce viable pollen more easily than others. Some accept pollen more readily. Some seem to abort the fruits too easily. I'm not an expert .... just responding to patterns of behaviour.

Re: Echinopsis flowers
Good news Terry - I seem to have the first successful Echinopsis one for this year! Let's hope the seeds germinate!!!

Re: Echinopsis flowers
Thanks ... that makes the effort worthwhile.
Short answer .....
The battery in the camera has limited capacity, and I have not quite worked out the variables .... seems to be not simple. That limits the number of possible frames in the video before the battery gives up.
The battery in the various lights I have, again have limited capacity, despite being able to run the latest one on top up from mains, but it's more being taken out than put in. That's WIP until I find a better 5V to 9V supply of 3A or more. Again limits the number of frames.
I produce the video in HD, although I downgrade it for the site. 20 seconds at the lowest conversion rate is do-able whereas a larger fragment would not upload and I'd have to look at other video parameters to achieve an upload.
I have set the frames rate at a respectable rate otherwise its over in a few seconds or it's flickering.
As a result of compromise for the above, I have a post process technique which works in a reasonable time scale .... I do need to eat and sleep.
But the biggest issue is ..... the plant .... can open fully or not or partially ..... and sometimes start and pause for a few hours or show interest in opening up then wait until the next day ... or like Candlelight today .... sit for a week and open fully in 40 minutes in daylight. Had I have noticed that, I might have been able to capture it. And the same plant doesn't always repeat its flowering in the same manner.
Now for the longer answer .....
Perhaps not here, but I could be persuaded to write a more detailed document .....
