Perhaps a close-up would convince him? It looks like it has some very fine patterning and texture that does not quite show well at this resolution.

What I meant was it's not spotty or stripey, and it's not the brightest of colours.

It's not even the colour of fresh meat!

Mike certainly has some more eye catching stapeliads than this one. :grin:
