Days are getting shorter

Post by iann »

So its time for Lithops flowers!

Not the first, but one of the nicest at this time of year. L. pseudotruncatella, labelled as var elisabethiae but not especially distinctive.

Subspecies volkii

And a L. gracilidelineata already, even if it is var waldroniae

(tu)
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Lovely Ian. They are very early. I've got some three year old volkii seedlings that are showing no sign of buds, so I guess they're too young.

Growing a mixed collection of cacti & other succulents; mainly smaller species with a current emphasis on lithops & conophytum.

I don't normally think of ssp volkii as being an early one, but they all are this year, even the smaller ones. I have two "alpina" plants that are consistently in bud before the end of June, sometimes flowering.

Correction: that's not L. gracilidelineata var waldroniae, not L. gracilidelineata at all. Just another pesky L. pseudotruncatella that got in the wrong section of staging. It is actually ssp archerae, look.
