I find it hard not to pot up bits of Pterocactus that have rooted in other pots, especially if they have buds. This has resulted in a few pots of them on a shelf of the greenhouse. Looking at them the other day I was wondering about collective nouns for cacti so I thought I'd post something to see if anyone had any ideas - just for fun of course!
A quick look on line came up with;
: A reservoir of succulents
: A spike of cacti
: A pack of Aloes
I thought we could probably do better.
How about?
: A ptorrent of Pterocacti
: A lot of Lobivias
: An ouch of Opuntias
: A plethora of Pelycyphoras
: A reef of Rhipsalis (Based on John PIlbeam's comment in Connoisseurs Cacti that they could resemble armloads of seaweed)
: An excess of Echinopsis
Here's the sight that started all this nonsense!

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.

Re: Collective nouns
What a lovely idea!
How about a medley of Mammillarias.
Or a plethora of Parodias
Or a symphony of Stapeliads.
Or a sonnet of Sulcorebutias.
Or a rhapsody of Rebutias.
Or an aria of Aloes... or Aylosteras.
Or an epiphany of Escobarias.
Or a delight of Discocactus.
I could go on......

Re: Collective nouns
