Aztekium ritteri RIP

Post by Herts Mike »

My 50 year old ritteri has shuffled off it’s mortal coil and gone to the big greenhouse in the sky.

And for no reason. No drip from the roof, no bugs, it was just it’s time.

So be it.

What a shame, a great plant that was, and you did well to keep it going for such a long time!

It's the Cactus God's way of making space for a new plant in your GH
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Sorry to hear it Mike. I know how attached you can get to plants when they have been with you for many, many years.

Very sad. Similar happened to mine about 4 years ago. I’d had it for 40+ years and suspect it was a lot older, it was sourced from Whitestone, I think…
