Hi all
While it's still too grey to lurk around in the greenhouse, I have time to think what I'd like to grow/attain for this yr ( buy a tardis greenhouse of course).
I still wish to grow a cephalium on a Discocactus & Melocactus, I have the disco's under lights but they are still quite small.
degraft E.gymnocalciodes, E.abdelkuri & E. turbiniformis - manage to grow them on their own roots to a reasonable size.
Graft a pseudolithos- anyone know what you use as stock for this ?
so what does everyone else wish for the new growing season
What do you hope to grow/buy for this yr ?

Re: What do you hope to grow/buy for this yr ?
Hi Tina,
I've pretty much acquired most of my "wants" list, except for the impossibles such as CRISTATE AZTEKIUM and CRISTATE ARIOCARPUS other than kotschubeyanus.
In terms of growing, I intend to try and improve my seed raising and grafting skills, and hopefully keep my whole collection growing healthily.
AND OF COURSE: TRYING TO ENSURE SOME OF THEM ARE WORTHY OF AN OUTING TO THE NATIONAL!
regards, Curtis

Re: What do you hope to grow/buy for this yr ?
I'd like to see another of my larger Opuntias flower, that'd be good. Actually I'd like to see some of the smaller ones flower as well but I think I'm molly-coddling them too much in the winter for that at the moment.
I'd like to get my Leuchtenbergias to flower at the same time and set seed (or even set some x Ferobergia seed if there's a locally-flowering Fero available at the right time, hint hint Vic )
In terms of plant acquisitions I've no real plans - I seem to be getting hold of all sorts of interesting things by swapping bits and bobs; I think the only "must-have" for me in 2008 is some more nice conos and other mesembs.

Grow: everything I already have, especially Adromischus also home-produced mesemb hybrid seed.
Buy: hmm, that would be telling but it depends what is on the MSG 2008 seed list!

Ever hopeful, trying to grow plants from arid sunny climates in the UK!
Lithops, Haworthia, Adromischus, other south African succulents including Ceropegia and some Crassula.

Hi Tina.
I hope all the seedlings I already got in my plastic bags will grow big this summer. And some, not all, of my plants that I already have will have flower(s) I will buy some cacti, that's for sure, and the surplus in money will tell me what and how big they are

Bet you can guess what I'd like, Tina! Some of those oh-so-expensive variegated agaves! There are still a few that I haven't yet managed to acquire, so will be scanning eBay regularly!

Yes, there's always something takes my fancy from the MSG list, then I'll top up with a few Lithops seeds.

Lots more Haworthias mainly from seed though, once I build the new propagators, Thermostats arrived today Thanks to the wife (Christmas present), just need to get building.
Another caput-medusae, so I can produce some seed. Maybe have a go at degrafting some of the other Astrophytums I have.
Oh and anything else that takes me fancy.
