Hi Mike As to the second one I'd be glad to know what it is as I've got one too. Probably obtained at the same time and place as yours, Eau Brink, last Bromley Branch outing! Trouble is lots of Eriosyces (Neoporterias/Thelocephalas, take your choice) look rather similar at this age. Maybe Juan or Suleyman could make a guess. First one I'm not sure about either. Is it on it's own roots and has it ever flowered?

Hi David
Correct as to where I obtained the second one.
First one is on own roots , never flowered, about 5" across, maybe had it about 10 years or so.
I am spending the long winter nights cataloguing the collection with Cactus Base. (Although to me it is not terribly intuitive in the way it works.)

The second one looks very much like a plant I have, labelled Neoporteria krausii, which I guess should be Eriosyce odierii ssp. krausii. However as David L says they all look alike when they are little!

Looks more like Denmoza than Ferocactus.

And that might be Eriosyce aerocarpa.

Yes.
When I carefully study the remains of the label for the first one it could well say Denmoza......should check for fading more often.
As for second I will pencil it in pending it flowering....
Thanks
