Birmingham Autumn Show..Botanic Gardens

Post by Andyh »

With regret the Autumn show run by the Birmingham Branch and held annually in October at the Birmingham Botanic Garden has been cancelled, along with all events at the Botanic garden this year, due to Covid.

This wonderful event attracted specialist sellers, many locals and cacti and succulent growers from far and wide.

The Botanic Gardens are open to visitors by booking ahead.

For now, instead of monthly Branch indoor meetings with guest speakers and other activities the Birmingham Branch are holding weekly zoom meetings. We have shared experiences, pictures, plants, quizes via zoom.

Indoor meetings are great places to learn more about the plants, meet people, have fun, share ideas and buy or aquire plants.

We are doing our best to think of ways to grow our Branch until we can add Indoor meetings back into the programme. We hope to view some members collections over the summer. We welcome your ideas on anything we can do.

It's a very tiresome year Andy and sorry to hear about your Autumn Show. At Croydon branch we are also trying to think of ways of keeping in touch with members in this time when we cannot have our normal meetings, it's becoming quite depressing actually. We have managed to start a branch newsletter, but I would also be interested in what other branches have tried, or other ideas, a quiz sounds good.
