The 10th Annual 'South West Cactus, Succulent & Exotic Plant Fair' is being held at the usual venue, namely.....

The Portishead Youth Centre,

1, Harbour Road, Portishead, Bristol. BS20 7DD.

This is just 1.5 miles from Junction 19 [Gordano Services] M5.

Admittance is free with the Venue open at 9.30 - 1.30 pm.

The Snack Bar will be open throughout the entire event.

Because of the popularity of the event the whole of the ground floor will be occupied with stands from Traders attending from throughout the country.

A list of those booked are listed below, with a number of fresh faces amongst them........

RALPH NORTHCOTT 'Cactus Shop'......Ralph is well established here in the West Country with both 'Mail Order'
and sales at Major Events around the country. He always has a good selection of plants appealing to the General Public as well as serious collectors. He has a large stand so he can offer a big selection .

CLIFF MORCOM.......All the way from deep Cornwall, he is helped by his wife Debbie. The plants are always fresh to the buyers and a popular stand to visit.

TONY IRONS CACTI....I always try to have a varied selection of home grown and imported plants available. The
stand is run by my son Richard who is well known around the country. Lithops are a speciality so please look closely for those choice plants.

DAVID NEVILLE.....Again, a well respected seller of plants, seen at most top quality shows. His choice of all types
of species is one not to be missed. Make a 'beeline' to his stand to grab those bargains.

COACH HOUSE CACTI.....David Ennals and his wife are regulars at this event. They come from the Dorset Coast
and always offer something a bit different . He may even have some pots for sale.

MINT PLANTS....Due to the popularity of their goods Hayley owns 2 shops in Gloucestershire now. They offer a wide range of quality cacti & succulents and related exotic plants. As well, they offer a fashionable range of ornamental pots. Also you can purchase bags of compost on the stand.

WILLIAMS CACTI....Since we started 10 years ago, Craig has always run a stand here offering a wide array of arid
plants especially caudiciform succulents. If you want a rare/choice plant then this is the nurseryman to see !

WOODSIDE CACTI....A great range of arid plants from this husband & wife team, plus also a big array of associated cacti & succulent related trinkets.

ALAN WEADON....Alan is a local, but his reputation for raising those choice, slow growing plants are second to
none....Sclerocactus, Turbinicarpus, Pediocactus are just a few of his favoured plants. Possibly the only person in the U.K. that you can speak to on the care of these plants and supply them.

INTERIOR OASIS....Steve owns a 'top-end' shop in Clifton,Bristol selling high quality interior displays of not only cacti & succulents but other exotic plants....well worth a visit!

C & V. CACTI....From Sussex , it is their 2nd year at this event supplying plenty of choice seed grown plants for
the keen grower.

POSSET POTTERY....Julie is attending the show for her 1st time bringing her own produced , bespoke, ceramic pots that will enhance any of the plants you buy on the day. She will also be introducing a new range of pots to the arid collector attending the show.

COASTAL CACTI & SUCCULENTS....Chris has a beautiful nursery in Uphill Village and supplies his unique blend of plants throughout the South West and is a good addition to this years Fair. Maybe, discuss with him landscaping ideas for your garden ?

MINISTRY OF BOTANY.... Dino Zelenika is quickly getting a good reputation in this area for his wide range of Orchids. Please make yourself known to him on his 1st appearance at the Fair.

PHIL WHITE..... From Wiltshire, Phil is well known to growers, but this is the 1st time at the Fair for him to sell. Anyone who knows him can vouch for the quality of his choice plants.

CARNIVORIAN.....A warm welcome to Ian who will be our only stand selling Carnivorous plants. I can't wait to see his beautiful plants, which are so popular with growers at present.

This Venue has been open during 2020, apart from the 'lockdown' period due to the Coronavirus. They are licensed to deal with distancing and other precautions required, but we all hope that with the Fair in the middle of 2021 any precautions will be minimal.

Please make a note in your diary, so that you do not miss out on attending.

I look forward to being able to welcome you all at the door.

Cheers

Tony.

Preparations are now continuing in earnest for our Fair on June 26th 2021, as it is just 1 week after the government lifts all Coronavirus restrictions.

Therefore, it will be the very 1st BCSS event like this, that will be open to all members and non members [ the general public ] since the lifting of restrictions.

We will probably still have sensible precautions like the wearing of face masks and the spacing out of the stands and the spacing of the buyers in place, however I will confirm much nearer the date the exact requirements.

A few adjustments to the Traders list....

David Neville will not be in attendance this year.

However David Ennals has increased his size of stand due to his volume of sales plants available.

A new nursery owner from Bristol, Ogie Placido will be selling here for the first time, some of his choice Aloe cultivars plus some cultivar Astrophytums.

Alan Goldsmith has his first stand here selling his species of Pelargoniums .

Please mark this Fair in your diaries to make sure you do not miss out on this great event.

Cheers

Just a further update.......

Possett Pottery has now stopped trading, so will not be able to run a stand at the Fair.

C & V Cacti have also decided not to run a stand here due to different circumstances.

A number of existing Traders have asked to take on extra space as they have a good stock of plants that they are keen to sell, following 18 months of having no shows to sell at.

It looks like masks will still be required as a precaution, but any change I will update everyone nearer the date of the Fair.

Carry on your preparations for attending and I look forward to welcoming friends old & new.

Good growing

Tony.

Is this event still on?

It looks to me that it may not be permitted due to the extension of rules beyond June 21st?

Events can still continue but with reduced capacity. I would have thought it would still go ahead though I wouldn't travel a long distance until there has been some confirmation.
