Hyde Hall Gardens Essex Zone Display and Plant Sale - July 24th & 25th

Post by Stuart »

BCSS Zone 15, the Zone that includes the Essex branches will be holding a display and plant sale at Hyde Hall Gardens near Basildon on July 24th & 25th. Hyde Hall is one of the five RHS gardens and the BCSS has a good relationship with the RHS who have allowed us to hold events at three of the five gardens.
Hyde Hall is well worth a visit, superb gardens set in the Essex countryside though only a few minutes drive from Basildon. https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/hyde-hal ... highlights
The BCSS Zone Show is usually held there but with the short time to organise events after lockdown ends, this year there will be individual cactus and succulent displays in place of the competitive show. There will be plenty of sales plants, two cactus nurseries and plenty of member's sales plants where anything can turn up. The Mamm Saboae I bought there at the last show was covered in flowers earlier this year.
Entry to the cactus event is included with the general garden admission and, if you're not yet a BCSS member, all the membership info will be at the event.
The last few Zone Shows have seen well over 1000 people through the door, at the Hilltop Centre at Hyde Hall. The 'Dry Garden'' next to the show hall has plenty of plants of interest with plants that grow well with no additional watering.
Although most lockdown restrictions should have ended on the 19th July, Hyde Hall website is currently selling tickets on time slots to even out visitor numbers though once in you can stay as long as you like. The gardens are open from 10am to 6pm Saturday and 11pm to 5pm Sunday, tickets can be booked here: https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/hyde-hal ... the-garden
This is the first BCSS Event after lockdown ends, hopefully the start of getting back to normal.

Tickets seem to go very quickly when it comes to the last few days. There's only 10 tickets left for this Sunday morning out of about 700. If tickets sell as well for next Sunday the morning time slots will sell out so I'd advise booking tickets now while there are still plenty available. Turning up without tickets means waiting for the next available time slot which could be a couple of hours. The same applies to Saturday. It'll be good to see everyone again.
