Hello from Manchester

Post by beleth »

Hello C&S folk,
After learning early on that I'm unable to keep flowers and vegetables alive I abandoned cultivation. Several years ago while in IKEA I picked up two 'cactus' (that's all the information that was provided and I still haven't identified them). Despite only having a dim windowsill for a growing space I've (un)wisely expanded my collection since then to 30 species by trades and unlabelled bargain desk plants.

Those original cacti eventually became too large, were divided several times and forced upon unlikely owners along with echeveria cuttings, broken pieces of sedum, etc. Propagation is too satisfying of an experiment to resist trying. Currently I've started from seed projects: I started simple with some creeping sedum (spurium and reflexum) and then some Aloe variegata. I'm still waiting/hoping that the Aloe polyphylla seeds I have will also germinate.

Here's a list of what I'm currently growing (cacti and succulents) on my windowsill (some of unknown and all are tentative descriptions):

Aloe variegata
Aloe vera var. chinensis
Kalanchoe daigremontiana
Cactus gen. [Echinopsis?]
Cactus gen. [Hylocereus?]
Cactus gen. [Mammillaria backebergiana?]
Crassula arborescens
Crassula ovata
Crassula ovata 'Gollum'
Crassula pyramidalis
Dioscorea bulbifera
Echeveria 'Magic Red'
Echeveria 'Perle von Nürnberg'
Echeveria purpusorum (compact)
Haworthia reinwardtii (var.?)
Peperomia incana
Sedum morganianum 'Burrito'
Sedum reflexum
Sedum spurium 'Coccineum'
Sedum treleasei
Sempervivum 'Spring Beauty'?
Sempervivum?
