Greetings from the enchanted part of East Yorkshire

Post by Hopscotch »

Hello everyone! I'm a new member in the Hull branch and a beginner to growing and caring for succulents. My interest was sparked a few months ago when I started growing lithops from seed. I've since branched out into growing several types of succulents (and a few cacti) that caught my eye in online seed catalogues.
I attended my first branch meeting last night where I received a very warm welcome I received from BCSS members. I was very impressed by the quality of the succulents on the display table and the dedication of the guest speaker who shared his experience of travelling around South Africa looking at native plants.
I'm looking forward to learning more about succulents and how to care for them.

Best wishes, Margaret.

Welcome to the Forum Margaret, and to the world of growing cacti and succulents. You have made a good start both by raising plants from seed, and by going to your branch meeting, where I'm sure you will soon acquire more plants! Enjoy!

Welcome to the forum.
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Well done Margaret, my father was an old Hill branch member many years ago, he still remembers it well, must try and get over to a meeting there myself. Good luck with your lithops
