Hi!
I'm Antony McEwan (Ant) and I used to have a reasonable collection of cacti and succulents about 20 years ago. I had them in a large adapted cold-frame and they did really well. Anyway, for whatever reason, I gave up and have only recently got back into these plants. I am limiting myself to a few window-sill spaces and a 60cmx30cm fish tank equipped with full spectrum growing light (my "Cactarium") which I should fit about 20 or so plants in. Currently have a nice mix of succulents and cacti, but it's early days - and I seem to have acquired several types of seeds too!
If anyone from the Highlands remembers the club show events that took place at the Trinity Church Hall - they were my "buying trips" twenty-ish years ago!

Welcome to the forum Ant
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

I would suggest a little computer fan just to get the air moving. Otherwise you will get high humidity building up inside.

Re: Hello from the Highlands
Hi Ant,
I remember giving a presentation at a Trinity Church Hall meeting not too long before Highlands and Islands changed venue. There was a great turn out and I particularly remember how, at the break, we all went into the side room and everyone sat around a huge table for tea and other refreshments. Happy days for H&I branch.
Best of luck with the rekindling of your hobby
Especially interested in Mesembs. small Aloes and South African miniatures and bulbs.
