Hello from Scotland

Hi everyone,
I joined the BCSS a month or two ago because I'm the kind of person who, when they want to get a bit deeper into a subject, immediately looks for the enthusiasts and professionals who spend a lot of time on the subject.
In my case, I got some cacti as a teenager because they seemed easy enough to grow, even if I wasn't into plants and gardening the way my mother or grandfather were. I ended up with 7 or 8, most of which died at some point or another as I went to university, moved around the country for work, left them behind to be looked after y family etc.
Fortunately 4 or 5 have survived and I've bought one or two more over the years, some of which haven't thrived.
So I am here looking for more information and advice, I want to keep them alive, growing and hopefully flowering. I will be posting in the sub forum for showing your cacti off and asking for a bit of advice. Reading Cactus world has informed me of potentially important things like a cactus going dormant in the hottest summer months.
Being in Scotland that might not be too big a problem, but then there are other potential issues like people leaving windows open letting cold air in at odd times of the day.
We don't have a huge amount of space for more cacti, but I would like to get a couple of smaller ones of Rebutia or Gymnocalycium to grow to flowering and end up with a nice display of flowering cacti at various times in the year.
