My GreenHouse Build.

Post by cactusguy63 »

One of the criteria went my wife and I went house hunting was that I have space for a real greenhouse. I just finished this build 1 week ago.

With the green lawn and hedges you could almost think this picture was taken in England... until you notice the Bismarkia palm.

Well, maybe it could be England too?
When I was in Ireland I was amazed by all the palm trees in the gardens. But sure, Ireland is not equal to England nor even UK of course.

I grow something like two dozen palm taxa in my garden but Bismarkia isn't one of them! It is not hot enough for long enough and too cold for too long! :)

That's in Indio!!, it looks like it could have been taken in England. I drive past Indio most years and it's one of the signs that I'm heading back to civilisation again. It's going to get very hot in that greenhouse in the summer.

Hi All
I completely forgot that I had joined the group/forum. I did not mean to be rude in any way. A year later An update to the greenhouse and surrounding area. The collection as well as most of the plants has grown considerably. I've run out space. So I had to move the larger Opuntia and Barrels to the side area of my house. They still receive sun most of the late morning to sunset.

The un-crowding of the greenhouse decking made my wife happy. She now has a small café table to sit at and enjoy her morning coffee watching the sun come up in the east.
