Is this a small Opuntia? Species?

Post by Licespray »

I forgot this guy was sitting in a pot neglected the last 12 months. Grown a fair bit since I last looked at it!

Any ID?

Looks to be the monstrose version of Cylindropuntia fulgida var. mamillata, sometimes known as the boxing glove cholla.
Phil Crewe, BCSS 38143. Mostly S. American cacti, esp. Lobivia, Sulcorebutia and little Opuntia

Now that you’ve said Cylindropuntia it seems so obvious! Thanks! Not allowed to have them here unfortunately so it’ll be gone soon.

Only Opuntia/Cylindropuntia allowed is O. ficus-indicus.
