I have seen them in habitat and they looked like this:

definitely not a stack of pale green golf balls but I would like mine to look a little nicer than they currently do. Having said that I came back from ELK in 2019 with a very nice looking clone which has so far remained clean. I also have one seedling (from several sowings so low success rate!) which looks ok although not a lot like a geometricus yet...

I passed on the offer to go along when Dave went to visit Michael Kießling and in hindsight that was a mistake. even if I go now the opportunity to come back with a boot full of plants has probably gone.

Could your one be cleaned up by chopping the darkened area off or is it just likely to rot again?

The piece I cut off mine doesn’t look good now and is most likely going to rot completely. For the original plant, I put it under lights and close to a fan yesterday so hopefully it will be ok.

The tephro had another chop as the rot continued. The ball I originally took off is gone completely.

Now the base part still has some dark areas around the cut but it isn’t really soft. The ball I took off before looked similar and I tried to re-cut the dark parts out and it pretty instantly went bad.

The ball I took off this time I wish I had asked the best way to remove it as I made another bad job of cutting it and took some off the bottom. Is there a good way to remove them? some thin wire maybe?

I think I’m going to leave the base as it is for a bit, I wonder how Mike P’s looked when it was cut as it looks pretty black on top now.

I left mine as it was. I find the ‘rot’ dries out and the head persists...
I’ll take an update photo at the weekend
