Mixed Opuntias (1)

Post by Christian » Tue Jun 15, 2021 12:08 am

The plant below came without a label. I am thinking it might be Maihueniopsis minuta - does that look correct to people?

I was pleased to see Maihueniopsis hypogeae flowering for the first time recently.

Also a first: Opuntia phaeacantha "Apricot":

And Tunilla tilcarensis "Fuchs", caught just still open at the end of the day:

The first one's a Cumulopuntia, maybe rossiana.
Phil Crewe, BCSS 38143. Mostly S. American cacti, esp. Lobivia, Sulcorebutia and little Opuntia

I can't get my head around these... Cumulopuntia rossiana seems quite variable - thank you for identifying this plant!
