These have flowered for me before. Both are still small plants, and I am pleased they seem to flower quite readily.

Tunilla "Sonnenglut" chose a good day on Sunday to open its flowers:

This is labelled Maihueniopsis platyacantha:

The Maihueniopsis looks more like M. hickenii than M. platyacantha.

Thanks Phil, I'll give it a new label.

I think it is M. platyacantha because I can see cross banding on the spines which would identify it as so. Hickenii does not have that marking.
