Common or garden - but very welcome

Post by rodsmith »

My Echinopsis eyriesii (I think that's what it is) has flowered for the first time for me. This was grown from an offset taken from a huge mother plant given to me several years ago. The plant was completely pot bound and desiccated and I saved just one of the many offsets.

Growing a mixed collection of cacti & other succulents; mainly smaller species with a current emphasis on lithops & conophytum.

Glad you rescued it .. lovely!
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

An oldie but goodie. One of the first plants I had, and I'm still glad to have it!

Lovely Rod 👍 My daughter gave me one years ago (brought home from a school fête) but I have to confess that until last week it has spent it's life in the garden 😣 It's never flowered for me, unlike my outdoor Rebutias.

With it's sentimental value (& with a feeling of guilt on my part), it's now the first plant in the new greenhouse so I'm hoping to see it flower next year

Have you a name for it?
I have one very similar that has never flowered.

No but I'm guessing it's pretty similar to Rod's, just not as healthy looking (at the moment!)

Lovely, Ross. So that is at your new inland location? You will soon have that bench full! Good luck!
