That’s a lovely coloured flower. I’ve planted mine outside in a new bed this year which will be wet protected in winter. Seems to be doing well so far and the bees love the flowers!

Interesting. Relabelling time?Atozbotanicals wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 6:30 am Beautiful plant.
This one is O. cespitosa/macrorhiza (likely conspecific), O. humifusa is spineless with inconspicuous areoles and lacks red inner tepals.

Which is why mine is staying indoors. We have a very healthy slug and snail population!

I really like this clone too Mark! Bit nervous of exposing mine to the ravages of our local slugs and snails but notice you are also in rainy NW England. If I find space in my bulb frames I might try it there.Mark07 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2020 6:45 pm That’s a lovely coloured flower. Re: Opuntia humifusa
Yes the slugs are a menace here too! They usually go for a short flight over the fence if spotted but I’m hoping if the bed is kept bone dry in autumn / winter along with the molar clay top dressing, it might deter them a little. The usual sprinkle of a few slug pellets around the base of the plant take care of the rest.
