Hello everyone,
This is Alan Tomlinson saying hello from Saitama Prefecture. I have been a member of the BCSS for several years and am also a member of the Mesemb Study Group. I have a 6 x 4 greenhouse which contains a mixed collection of cacti and mesembs. I started growing mesembs from seed about 3 years ago. Overall, quite successfully, although I have had some problems, particularly this year, in getting winter growers through the awful Japanese summer, a delightful combination of brutal heat and high humidity. I have had zero success so far in making contact with other mesemb growers in Japan, so am having to learn the hard way, by trial and error. If any local mesemb growers read this post, I would be delighted if you would get in touch. I have been in Japan for many years, so contact in Japanese would not be a problem for me.

Welcome Alan
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs. Recently discovered gorgeous Gasteria.
