Always good to see a flower in the middle of winter. Lithops optica needs a bit more sun, I think, but still something to see occasionally.
Titanopsis calcarea. Any flowers that don't open early in autumn tend to linger until the sun comes back.
Gymnocalycium schickendantzii flowers whenever it is nice and warm. It is under lights with the seeds and decided that was warm enough.
A little winter cheer

Re: A little winter cheer
Agreed ... winter ..... and those are certainly "cheery"
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

And warmth. They need about 12-14C to feel happy to open, I find.iann wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 2:18 pm Always good to see a flower in the middle of winter. Lithops optica needs a bit more sun, I think, but still something to see occasionally.

First it was orchids, then, since c.2001, cacti and succulents. I'm into South African plants, mainly conos, lithops and haworthias, with a few cacti, especially 'posh' mamms, turbs and other smalls. Now it’s stapeliads as well...

Another spectacular flower from the hotbox, Mammillaria columbiana. Even in summer it doesn't exactly attract attention.

Beautiful flowers, very much on my wishlist.
Re: A little winter cheer
The flowers smell very sweet.it really needed a brush before pic, it's on the top shelf so I was reaching with the phone. I think I've read somewhere that there is a red flowerd var. Would love to have that one.
