Funny to see the split of the leaves have turned about 60 degrees. It could have stayed the same compared the the previous year, or it could have turned 90 degrees like the regular two leaved Lithops would do.

I always imagined new leaves starting between the old ones, so a 60 deg. shift would be right here, but that's just my imagination! Quite opposite to e.g. Conophytums, where the new leaves just sort of grow within the old ones.

MatDz, although the two leaves are often fused to a greater extent in Conophytum, their new bodies also emerge perpendicular to the old ones. Almost all [regular] mesembs do this. The fissure on the new cono body is more or less at right angles to the fissure on the old body it emerges out of.

My bad! I shall use a magnifying glass next time I look at them! I have just a few, rather new to me, Conos, and they didn't really start to change leaves yet, so I'll consider this an excuse.
