Sulcorebutias today

Post by Diane »

My Sulcorebutias are now coming into flower, so thought I’d share with you.

Sulcorebutia jolantana, I love the contrast between the long golden spines and deep red flowers:

Fantastic flowers aside, it's lovely to see a range of the best body and spine forms out there. Such a shame so many never get to see beyond the ubiquitous rauschii!

Lovely display Diane. And a very healthy looking heliosoides! Mine are only just starting to flower.

Well, Phil, many of the nicer forms aren’t available to the average collector, I suppose, you have to grow from seed.

Paul, this one is on a graft, and I’ve never got round to de-grafting it! As it looks pretty good, I won’t bother.

Super plants. I really like that first one.

Here's a tiddler of mine that flowered for the first time today, with a really dark flower - as you would expect from the name: Sulcorebuta melanorubra.

Lovely plants Diane
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Fantastic Sulcos! I look forward to their riot of colour every year... S. jolantana is a name I never came across before (nor S. melanorubra); your S. heliosoides and S. roberto-vasquezii are stunning, Diane!
