Today’s bloomers!

Post by Diane »

These are just a small selection of the many cacti in flower today - too many to count!

First up is the wonderful Mammillaria luethyi, so stunning in flower. These are both grafted, and the larger one is a multi headed plant I bought from Tony Irons last year:

Next, is Homalocephala texensis - the ‘Horse crippler’ with its amazing fringed flowers:

Lobivia bonniae:

A red flowered form of Astrophytum senile:

Coupled with the red flowered form of Astrophytum asterias:

Lots of flowers on Sulcorebutia markusii:

Finally, an odd Chamaelobivia hybrid with fringed flowers. I bought this from a garden centre a couple of years ago, with a hand written label by Chris Pugh, which says ‘Lobivia hybrid purple flowers’ which it obviously is not, but Google shows an identical plant called Chamaelobivia cv. ‘BOOM’. First flowers are fringed but subsequent flowers are normal.

That is some show
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Thanks, everyone! Ralph, I’m not sure how old, I would guess about 20 years, but could be wrong. It’s in an 8” pan.
