Rebutia heliosa RH291
Spotted this flower today and thought it looked a little unusual with a bit of a central stripe on some petals

Looks nice Ross. Is it darker pigment or slightly creased/folded petals? Tricky to see from a photo!

It's darker pigment Ed. Unusual (for me anyway( in that all my other heliosa's have plain orange or red flowers. This one seems to have particularly pale orange with a darker stripe in some petals. Might just be for this year 'though

Re: Rebutia heliosa RH291
I have a few Aylosteras with stripey petals, and they are fairly consistent in doing it each year, although the strength of striping can vary somewhat from petal to petal.
I'd suggest haagei has broader, rounder tipped petals. Have a look at the flower tube. It's much thinner in heliosa.

Re: Rebutia heliosa RH291
Hi,
Here's the Rebutia heliosa that I had from Ralph just last month, such a big flower on such a tiny plant, but that's Rebutias for you. I really like them and their small for my small Greenhouse.
Best wishes.
Mel.

Cracking plant.
I have thought I might get rid of all of my "big" plants and concentrate on Rebutia. Would be able to have about 3 times the number of plants .... and less chance of toppling .... and lighter to move them around.

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.
