I hadn't appreciated that these are true climbing plants until I found this vine wrapped around a tomato stem today. I'll probably just cut the vine back rather than untangle it though.
Re-potting caudex plant advise please.

Would that be Dioscorea el...? If so, their wines and leaves are surprisingly durable and hard to break or snip off (except at the base, guess how I learned!), so it might be worth saving some of it.

Fockea vines are really tough, you could unwind it with no problem.
The flowers look exactly like the Fockea edulis I had, before I ate it.
I assume the caudex has grown bigger?

Three year update on this. I'm tackling repotting at the moment and exposed a bit more of the caudex. It's looking really good with a nice interesting Mandrake-like shape but I'm in two minds whether to leave it exposed or partly rebury it to keep growing. I'm leaning towards leaving it exposed. The old pot was crammed with root so it will hopefully appreciate a bit more space.

Re: Re-potting caudex plant advise please.
Here's one of my plants of F. edulis just repotted with about half the caudex underground. This is roughly my usual potting regime for this kind of plant. For scale the pot is 12 cm diam. and the caudex is about 7 cm across.
BTW I'm surprised the first posted pic was of a plant from a garden centre.
The flower looks correct for F. edulis.

I had a Uebelmannia from a garden centre and two lovely Brachychitons from Homebase.
Always worth a look.

That's a useful idea with the framework, Colin. I just measured mine and it's just over 5cm where the colour of the caudex changes at the top. Was your buried completely until it got that big? All the growth seems to have been underground since I bought this one.
