Import from Bob Smoley?

Is anyone interested in sharing an import from Bob Smoley, USA?

If you add 50% to the plant price, that would/should comfortably cover everything except phyto'. He charges $65 for a phyto' and that would be split between however many plants were shipped - 65 plants and it would add $1 to each.
In most cases, shipping within the UK, to distribute the plants from a single delivery, ought to cost something like £3.50-£5 - it depends on what anyone wanted.
Minimum order is $150 plant value, which I could just about rustle-up myself.

All details are available on his website.

At the moment £1 is near enough $1.25.

Are you sure this is still operational? Bob Smoley died about 3 years ago and I know his sister took over the business but am not sure if it’s still going. But there is no ‘he’ any more and no ‘his’. I used to buy Sansevierias from him years ago when both plants and postage from the US was very cheap.

Now, that I did not know. Thanks Al.

The website is very much up and running, so far as I can tell, as it has been changed in recent times, although the copyright banner runs only until 2020, which would fit with your mention of timing. Facebook was last updated 2019.

It is Sansevierias that I am interested in.

I would certainly be interested in a couple of plants, maybe sending an email to bobsmoleys@gmail.com would be a way to confirm the website/shop is still operating? I couldn't find any other contact information.

Hi all,

This nursery is still up and running and is being continued in Bob's name by his widow and one of his sons.

Interesting that the Asclepiad listing includes “Huerina”, “Stepelia” and Adromischus.

Not for me I think.

Thanks Suzanne

I emailed them last night.

See what comes back by way of an answer.
The nursery is of very long-standing and well respected. Some kind of typo' or glitch with regards wrongly listing a genus should not put anyone off.

I'll post again as and when an email reply is received.

LLOL

No need to be sorry.

I picked up a couple of real bargains off EPay this week because the seller can't spell Sansevieria. There are even websites that search sales platforms specifically for spelling errors - I use those too.

(For instance - I needed a bench sheer, what most people call a guillotine, I bought a gillotine as sole bidder for less than half what it should have sold for.)
