On another post Terry from Leeds mentioned spiky flowers, well this Astrophytum c.v. hekiran ginsha ( photo 1 ) certainly has ( photo 2 ) a bad hair day.

Are they always that untidy?

No most myriostigma c.v. have normal yellow Astrophytum flowers, may be there is some virus about ( see post by Benjy ).
