Tephrocactus verschaffeltii

Post by chris68 »

Have had 3 flowers on this plant this year but only managed to catch one open. This clone produces short chunky stems which seem to fall off and root in other pots, my other clone produces tall lanky growth and seems to take loads of water otherwise all the stems flop over.

Note: I had this plant as Austrocylindropuntia verschaffeltii but have changed it to reflect the 'preferred name' as in the CITES checklist

Varied collection of mostly cacti with some Agave and Aloes - space is always the problem!!

It is the preferred name here
The second clone you mention ( Lanky ) is the one I have and in hot weather it is difficult to keep the plant upright.
No flowers here yet, I will check for buds tomorrow.
