I was about to add these to 'for sale' part of my collection. They were grown from seed, repotted once since sown, they were .. well, really nothing special.. green plants with kinda spiny leaves. I have repotted them 2 months ago and put outside at (almost) full sun and they've almost doubled their size, plus they've added some colors to themselves. Weird plants, weird...

Re: Few more dyckias
Nice plants! I tried growing Dyckia velascana from seed this year but nothing germinated. Was hoping it might have been a hardy plant for spots outside!
Are yours hybrids or different species?

Re: Few more dyckias
Mine are hybrids mostly.
Dyckia seeds don't have long viability. And they are mostly available in South America. Guys that sell them keep them in fridges but that doesn't really help due the distance. Buying many seeds is a 'solution' to get at least few plants but attractive hybrid seeds cost 1-5 pounds per piece
A friend of mine sent me a lot of his uncontrolled pollinated seeds last year, they've germinated almost 100%. Then I had to go for a trip for a few days and when I got back they were all dead. Mold / rot / fungus / something got them
On the bright side... I just had one of my (seems self-fertile) hybrids producing seeds.. will be interesting to find out what I'll get...

Re: Few more dyckias
Mine were from Koehres Kakteen so probably not fresh enough. Thanks for the information.
