At 13 cm this nearly sheared itself off the body of the plant.

Too big .....
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Re: Too big .....
Nice flower Terry and nice to have such late flowers.
Mine produced huge flowers this year too - mine hit 15cm back in June.

Re: Too big .....
Yes I remember the posting on the DKG site.
I don't think this current flower is sufficiently stable to attempt pollination. It'll drop off. It has happened before with this particular hybrid ... large flower on a too fine a stem.

Re: Too big .....
I agree - I've got three pods ripening on mine. One crossed with a New Dawn Hybrid from Southfields, one with x Trichopsis 'Poppy' and the third with the darker seedling that flowered. You're welcome to some seed (assuming there's some in there when it is ripe!).

Re: Too big .....
Seeds .... yes .... in the process of removing offsets .... seed pods drop off ..... and labels so carefully made .... get jumbled .... and seeds fall out of pods. Big bag this year of "miscellaneous".edds wrote: ↑Wed Aug 17, 2022 3:14 pm I agree - I've got three pods ripening on mine.
