This was a large clump. All the single plants are totally gone.

Sheffield Botanical Gardens had about 6 Aloe striatula planted in a small bed last year. By the end of the winter they all looked awful, 2 still had some signs of life. The apparently dead ones were dug out, which may well have been somewhat premature. One of the survivors lost it's growing point but has sprouted well from below ground, and now looks better than its sibling.
Incidentally, the area cleared of striatula has what I take to be summer bedding rather than permanent planting. Agave filifera/parviflora/shidigera on a corner next to a main path might not be the best positioning.Mike T
