Seed trays of mixed seedlings Solved

I’ve always removed the lids on seed trays when the newly emerged seedlings are five days old and sprayed them daily thereafter. What do you with mixed species/varieties which germinate at different times? Keep the lids on until they have all germinated? I’d be grateful for advice thanks.

I keep the lid on until early summer, but I do remove some of the more humidity sensitive species, sometimes. I’ve got two Pterocactus hickenii seedlings on my office windowsill right now…I find these super sensitive to too much warmth and humidity.

I did this once (scientific methods at their finest...) and a lot of the early "risers" dampened off. It's been the only and last time I risked mixed genera/species seeds.

I use the baggie method, so for cacti the bag isn't opened until the seedlings are several months or even a year old (longer for ultra slow growing species like Blossfeldia). I open the bag for succulents a couple of weeks after germination, but rather than spray I leave the pot in the opened bag and if any water is needed I poor a little down the inside of the bag, so it's taken up from the bottom of the pot. This way the seedlings and compost surface (with any ungerminated seeds) isn't disturbed. I use only tap water for seedlings.

I spray my seeds daily in the propagator, from day one. The propagator is almost, but not quite, sealed.
