I have found that A. melanacantha is easier to flower than A. erinacea, despite some authorities viewing them as forms of the same species. But I have never managed to set seed on either of them!
Aloe longistyla is easy to pollinate if you have 2 plants from different sources, but I have never managed to set seed on a single plant.

Pleasant surprise as my aloe erinacea is flowering again this year I wasn't sure with the repot if it would sulk but its looking great now.
Also a friend won Tony Morris's aloe erinacea at last years auction, which flowers intermittently (there was an article in cactus world) so we may be able to do a pollen swap if their flowering overlaps ( fingers & toes crossed).

Wow. How do you get them to keep all the lower leaves? Mine always lose them which results in a stick with a clump of leaves on top!

I've only had it a year but plenty of water, I water in winter, a bit of sun & it gets a dribble.

Here's my other one that I made a few years ago by taking the growing point out of a young single plant, can't wait for this to flower although it may get to big eventually
