Aristocacti (David Quail) suspends plant sales

Post by greatnorthernexotic »

Just noticed on his website that David Quail has currently suspended plant sales, which I hope is just a temporary measure. When I visited last year he said he was considering selling up and that he was no longer growing from seed as new plants germinated no wouldn't be ready for another decade. I certainly hope he continues for a while longer as there is simply nobody else offering the species he does in the country.

Here's a video tour of his greenhouse and collection for those who missed it first time around: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zqiXp0O2Po

In the greenhouse: ariocarpus, astrophytum, aztekium, copiapoa, lophophora...
In the outdoor arid bed: hardy agave, aloe, dasylirion, hesperaloe, opuntia, yucca...

That's would be a shame, maybe he's just a bit poorly & busy with family stuff.
Its always tempting to buy a collection, as you keep the best n sell the rest but I'm too greedy & try keeping them all....

David has now confirmed on his website that he has ended plant sales. Truly the end of an era for fans of the slow-growing Mexican cacti he grows.
