Hi all,
I've been off the forum for a while but now that I have a little time I thought I should do some catching up.
I have been having fairly good success with my plants from seed, and that's good for me since the selection here is still limited and it is a real hassle to import plants!
I had my first blooms from plants from seed earlier this year (several Mammillaria albilanata) at about two and a half years old - that was surprising to me since the books say it is a reluctant flowerer in cultivation.

Mammillaria heidiae aborted its buds, much to my dismay, but I expect to see some blooms eventually.
I have been nurturing my seedlings sown in 2007 and they seem to be doing well since I now know a lot more and have obviously improved my technique to keep more of them alive longer (still not where I want to be but that will come in time)
Here are some of them... hope you can read the labels. Some are very new to me so I will be trying to understand them as they grow.

Re: Update on some of my seedlings
Excellent, Janine. M. albilanata does sometime take a while, so 2 1/2 yrs from seed is very good going.
Your climate, I would imagine, both helps and hinders, with good warmth and bad humidity. Great maybe for Melocacti, but not for some of the desert plants.
