KaktuS Eugendorf - near Salzburg

Post by Keith L »

Forum members on the Eastern side of Europe will probably already know of this event, but in case there are any who don't I thought I would highlight it.

Many of you will know of ELK in Belgium, which has been going for more than 45 years. It has grown in to an enormous International Cactus and Succulent plant market bringing around 100 sellers from across Europe together with purchasers from a wide area.

The Austrian Gymnocalycium Society last year started an event – KaktuS - aimed at becoming a similar market but further east. They have made great progress and this year it will be held on 2nd and 3rd June 2012 in a large sports hall near Salzburg and there will be sellers from 9 countries. You can get more details from their web site http://www.gymnocalycium.info/AG_Gymnocalycium.html - as I write this I have been unable to actually get on to the site but I think the URL is correct and hopefully it is only one of those increasingly common and frustrating glitches with the web!

I will be there and plan to take some pictures as quite a number of people I have mentioned it to have asked to know what it is like and how it goes. And for those of you who do plan to be there I look forward to meeting you.

Cheers

Good luck, Keith. We look forward to hearing all about it. For me, that weekend heralds the Lea Valley's 4 day event at Capel Manor, Enfield. http://www.leavalley.bcss.org.uk/annualshow.html. We'll be ready for a rest after that one too!
