Re: April 2013 - Genus of the Month - Euphorbia
You are indeed fortunate Phil, I get easily bored, so having had rows and rows of Cacti in the past that don't do much, I find these succulent things more of a challenge. You know I'm only joking about the cactus nonsense - I've just looked in my greenhouse and there are loads of them - I thought I'd got rid.

I agree with this I think April is too early as most leaf succulent Euphorbias are still either dormant or just coming to life, maybe May/June would have been a better time ?Lithos wrote:I suggest Genus of the month for May should continue to be Euphorbia, it's been a late start for most - and flowering cactus are all over the forum.

Hi
I agree ( of course) but when I read the write up I thought it was supposed to be caudiciforms not just Euphorbia's, why I came to the thread a little late but even my caudiciforms aren't in good growth at the moment & are still in the process of having a trim, tidy up and bug inspection- pesky mealy, a friend calls vines of caudiciforms- Mealy motorways which seems a good description.I suggest Genus of the month for May should continue to be Euphorbia

Yes it's a shame most of the months aren't in the spring or summer! I suppose we just have to take pics when we can and hope our favourite plants get featured at some point.

Re: April 2013 - Genus of the Month - Euphorbia
Here's something you don't see very often, a flowering Euph hadraumatica, I have managed to grow some seedlings from my two plants & now have seedlings from the seedlings
Flowers from one of my Euphorbia primulifolia, I have managed to get viable seed but the seedlings are seriously s l o w.
Euphorbia lignosa according to the Euphorbia journal difficult to grow , lucky for me my plant hasn't read the journal I have had it about 6 years & it just grows slowly, it's still only in a 3.5" pot.
Euphorbia milotti really pretty flowers if you let it go dormant, this one offsets by stolons

Euphorbia suppressa, I grew this from seed it had a couple of flowers recently but seems to be difficult to get growing well.
Euphorbia turbinformis, impossible on it's own roots
Euphorbia trichadenia & seed pod , no seedlings from this
Euphorbia poisonii, grown since this photo was taken,

Re: April 2013 - Genus of the Month - Euphorbia
Euphorbia horwoodi crest, prettier than the normal form which on a graft just become a mass of arms and on it's own roots would be a costly death for me. I had trouble with this getting Euphorbia mould for the first year or two.
A different form of milotti which has purple undersides to the leaves
Euphorbia silenifolia
Euphorbia columnaris an old plant, this was from Keith mortimers collection when it was sold 2005 ( I think), it does flower every year & has some offsets starting to develop but just been told they are either fe/male can anyone confirm this ?. Anyone have this on it's own roots ?

Great pictures Phil & Tina. Even I could be tempted by some of these.
