Just out of interest, what’s it growing in, pot and medium?

Lol.

It's in a microwave meal container. No drainage holes. In roughly 20% perlite, 80% cat litter. Weak fertiliser with most watering.
Containers without drainage holes are fine for a while, for vigorous easy species, in this mix, and so long as they are watered sensibly.

Earlier today I chopped off the most spreading stems for cuttings, to make a more compact plant for overwintering indoors, and will pot it unto a more conventional container shortly.

I can see the logic of no drainage holes with that medium.

This plant grows like a series of letter Js JJJJJJ, rooting as it grows, with the back end going manky. If you take cuttings, its best to keep one as your main plant, and discard the rearmost piece, rather than trying to keep the same bit and pruning it. That's my experience, anyway. It grows best in a long tray with space to advance.

Imagine my excitement to see buds appearing on this Whitesloanea crassa a few days ago! It’s not very large - only in a 5cm pot, and came from a UK eBay seller last April, who is obviously a very experienced seed raiser who has sold several of these (I have another slightly larger one from the same seller). The flower opened a couple of days ago (it resides in a cosy propagator kept at 20+C). There seems to be another bud on the adjacent rib, I wonder whether that will reach maturity too!

Well done Diane! Have to say my Stapeliad flowering was pretty poor this year. Lack of sun.
